ATK Rocky Road Brownies
My favorite recipe for brownies is called Tappan Hill Brownies. This recipe was featured in a cookbook Craig & I got when we were first married. I used to make them regularly and now I haven’t made them for years. Still, they are the brownies that I judge all other brownies against.
Henry chose this recipe. I went rogue and opted to not put the nuts on top (because I hate nuts in things). So the result was not a “rocky” road but a “newly-paved-road” brownie. Also, the expat shopping store usually carries marshmallow fluff. They only had strawberry marshmallow fluff in stock and I’m not sure what the difference between marshmallow fluff and marshmallow crème is (the recipe calls for marshmallow crème).
The brownies are delicious and I really like the chewiness of the marshmallows on top. The insides were lacking. Maybe it was missing nuts? One of the charms of the Tappan Hill brownies is that the chocolate chips remain solid inside. I wonder if I could combine the Tappan Hill recipe with the marshmallow fluff on top? (But then again, why mess with perfection?)
Overall the brownies were good but ultimately I will keep the Tappan Hill recipe as my go-to.
